Alpine Lamb Project

Sustainable Slope Maintenance and Experiencing Nature
Since 2009, the Alpine Lamb Project has been an integral part of sustainable slope management at Hauser Kaibling. Originally launched as an EU LEADER project, it is now considered a prime example of environmentally friendly slope maintenance and active nature conservation. The sheep are traditionally herded by an experienced shepherd accompanied by a herding dog—a sight that often makes guests pause and take it all in. Anyone hiking along the Schafsinn Circular Trail, toward the summit, or to the Kaiblingalm may, with a bit of luck, encounter the bleating flock—a highlight for children and adults alike that helps maintain the alpine meadows and creates special moments in the heart of nature.
Culinary highlights of the project include the high-quality Ennstal lamb served at select mountain huts—a particular favorite is the roast lamb at the Krummholzhütte.

Flying with a View at Hauser Kaibling
At 2,015 meters, the summit of the Hauser Kaibling is a popular launch site for paragliders— whether for solo flights or tandem flights with certified pilots from Skyclub Austria. The ascent is easy via the 8-person gondola and the 8-person Kaiblinggrat chairlift; at the top, ideal launch sites await with panoramic views of the Ennstal Valley, the Dachstein, and the Niedere Tauern. The open summit area and stable thermals ensure safe and spectacular flights.
Tip: After your flight, the summer huts are the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat—or you can combine the adventure with an e-bike tour, a hike to Moaralmsee, or a visit to the petting zoo.
