Top hikes at Hauser Kaibling

At Hauser Kaibling, countless hiking trails are waiting to be discovered by nature-loving summer vacationers. Whether a leisurely family walk, panoramic trail or sporty mountain tour - everyone will find the right hike here. Enjoy the fresh mountain air, a breathtaking 360-degree panorama and meet the 800 or so sheep with their shepherd, who make Hauser Kaibling something unique in summer.

High trail to the Moaralmsee

Walking time: approx. 3.5 hours. - Distance: 7 km - difference in altitude: 700 m - difficulty: medium (Note: dogs are not allowed from the Rossfeldsattel).

With the Hauser Kaibling 8-seater gondola lift and the Kaiblinggrat 8-seater chairlift or the Tauern cable car, you can cover most of the altitude difference in comfort. From the mountain station, you can reach the summit of Hauser Kaibling (2,015 m) with its breathtaking panorama in around 30 minutes. Continue via the Rossfeldsattel and the varied trail to the Moaralmsee - a turquoise-green natural gem in the midst of an impressive mountain landscape. An incomparable play of colors can be seen here, especially when the alpine roses are in bloom.

There are several options for the way back:

  • Standard route: Back via the Rossfeldsattel and the Kaiblingalm - perfect for a leisurely stop with a view of the Dachstein.
  • Sporty option: From the lake via the Seescharte (trail no. 45/780) down to the Kaiblingalm.
  • Pleasure variant: Via Almsteig trail no. 781 into the Gumpental valley with a stop at the Stangl Alm. Return journey by hiking cab (advance booking required).

Mountain tour to the Bärfallspitze (2,150 m)

Walking time: approx. 4 hours - Distance: 7 km - Difference in altitude: 426 m - Difficulty: medium

The tour starts along the Schafsinn circular trail to the Rossfeldsattel. From there, follow trail no. 45 and after around 45 minutes you will reach the Bärfallspitze (2,150 m) - with a fantastic panoramic view of the Enns Valley. The descent leads via trail no. 780 to the Kaiblingalm, where the Schutzhaus invites you to take a break. You return to the mountain station via the children's adventure trail, which is a particular highlight for families. For an enjoyable finish, stop off at the "d'Genussalm" - with a wonderful sun terrace and views of the Dachstein massif.

Alpine tour to the Höchstein (2,543 m)

Walking time: approx. 6 hours. - Distance: 11 km - Difference in altitude: 809 m - Difficulty: difficult

The challenging tour to the Höchstein, the striking summit of the Schladminger Tauern, is a real highlight for experienced mountaineers. The ascent starts either via the Kaiblingalm or via the Hauser Kaibling summit (2,015 m). Trail no. 780 takes you to the Seeschartl with a magnificent view of the Moaralmsee. The trail continues through impressive boulder terrain to the Kaiblingloch saddle, before the final ascent leads over steep scree fields and secured passages to the summit ridge and finally to the Höchstein (2,543 m). Once at the top, an overwhelming panorama over the Schladminger Tauern and into the Enns Valley awaits you. The way back is along the same route back to the mountain station.

Hauser Kaibling - Höchstein - Moaralmsee

Walking time: approx. 6 hours - Distance: 11.2 km - Difference in altitude: 995 m - Difficulty: difficult

This impressive circular tour combines three highlights: the Hauser Kaibling summit (2,015 m), the alpine Höchstein (2,543 m) and the idyllic Moaralmsee. From the mountain station, the trail leads over the Hauser Kaibling summit and on over the Rossfeldsattel to the Seescharte. The challenging ascent to the Höchstein includes steeper passages with wire ropes and rocky climbing terrain, before you are rewarded at the summit with a magnificent panorama over the Schladminger Tauern.

The descent is via the Filzscharte through boulder-rich terrain down to the romantic Moaralmsee lake. Embedded in an impressive mountain backdrop, it invites you to take an enjoyable break. Return along the slopes of the Bärfallspitze and over the Rossfeldsattel back to the mountain station.
