Hauser Kaibling summit (2,015 m) - circular route

Walking time: approx. 2 hours - Distance: 4.5 km - Height difference: 240 m - Difficulty: medium

After a half-hour ascent, you reach the summit of Hauser Kaibling - also the highest point of the Schladming 4-mountain ski area. Whether it's the summit cross, a souvenir photo or the magnificent view of the Enns Valley - it's worth taking a break here. The tour continues over the Rossfeldsattel to the idyllic Kaiblingalm, where the Schutzhaus invites you to take a break with a view of the Dachstein. There is a playground for children and on the way back to the mountain station there is an exciting children's adventure trail with puzzle stations, new marble runs and varied motor skills stations.

Children's adventure trail to the Kaiblingalm

Walking time: approx. 40 min. - Distance: 3.5 km - Difficulty: easy

The child-friendly adventure trail leads from the mountain station of the Kaiblinggrat 8-seater chairlift down to the idyllic Kaiblingalm. New marble runs and exciting play and motor skills stations await along the way, which playfully impart knowledge about sheep and their wool. The trail is suitable for baby carriages and offers exercise fun for the whole family in the midst of beautiful nature. Once you reach your destination, the idyllic Schafsinn pond and the Kaiblingalm shelter invite you to take a relaxing break.

SCHAFsinn circular route

Walking time: approx. 2 h 25 min - Distance: 5.6 km - Difficulty: easy to medium

The Schafsinn circular trail leads around the Hauser Kaibling and offers two variants:

  • The longer route (approx. 1 h 45 min) is aimed at sure-footed hikers and leads past the viewing bench with a view of the reservoir, up to 1,950 m and on to the Schafsinn research area and the idyllic Kaiblingalm.
  • The shorter route (approx. 40 min) is ideal for walkers, families and can even be walked with a baby carriage. The children's adventure trail with puzzle and play stations also runs along this section.

The Kaiblingalm invites you to take a leisurely break with regional delicacies and homemade juices. The Naturfreunde shelter also offers overnight accommodation - perfect for those who want to enjoy the mountain for longer.

In the footsteps of the pioneers (trail 780)

Walking time: approx. 4.5 hours - Distance: 8.2 km - difference in altitude: approx. 1,000 m - difficulty: medium

This themed hiking trail tells the exciting story of Hauser Kaibling. Along nine stations, you will learn all about the first hut builders in 1907, the construction of the first cable car and the development into today's skiing and hiking paradise in short stories. The route is accessible both uphill and downhill and combines exercise in nature with exciting insights into over 100 years of mountain sports history.

Guided hikes with shepherd Franz

Join shepherd Franz on a two-hour hike on the Hauser Kaibling and immerse yourself in the world of sheep and shepherds. On this leisurely walk, you will learn exciting facts about traditional alpine farming, the healing power of alpine herbs and the important role of animals in the mountain world. The free tour is perfect for families and also takes place in bad weather - please bring sturdy shoes and clothing suitable for the weather.

Sunrise hike

Guided hike up the Hauser Kaibling

It's worth getting up early: the sunrise tour to the Hauser Kaibling summit (2,015 m) starts at around 04:00. After less than an hour's walk, an unforgettable natural spectacle awaits you as the sun rises behind the mountain peaks and bathes the landscape in golden light. Afterwards, you can enjoy a hearty alpine breakfast at the Kaiblingalm - the perfect start to the day.
