Your summit moment
The summit
At the very top at 2,015 meters
At the summit at Hauser Kaibling, you are often greeted by very special "locals": around 700 sheep graze peacefully around the mountain, giving the alpine pasture its unique romance. A selfie with mascot Wolli and an entry in the summit book make your visit a very personal experience.
Thanks to the 8-seater gondola lift and the Kaiblinggrat 8-seater chairlift, the summit is easy to reach - only around 30 minutes of hiking separate you from the special place above everyday life. From here, the picturesque summit ridge leads on to the Rossfeldsattel, the perfect starting point for unforgettable tours to the Moaralmsee, the Bärfallspitze or even the Höchstein for the more ambitious. A summit experience that touches you - with real highlights included.
In the natural idyll of the Kaiblingalm
Sheep sense pond
Feel nature with all your senses
Our SCHAFsinn barefoot trail along the reservoir pond gives you a feel for sheep. The different ground textures such as moss, gravel, sand, forest soil and much more allow us to feel what our sheep feel under their claws every day. Little adventurers can let off steam on the SCHAFerl jump, the SCHAF via ferrata or the fun SCHAFgeflüster.
On the SCHAF via ferrata, you can balance over tree trunks, stilts and stones - without a harness or carabiner. Secure your souvenir photo at the SCHAFerl photo point before enjoying the view at the cozy resting places or treating yourself to regional delicacies on the sun terrace at the Kaiblingalm shelter.
A real favorite place for the whole family - close to nature, eventful and full of sheep spirit.
Beautiful with a view
SCHAFsinn circular route
Hiking with SCHAFsinn
After the ascent with the gondola and chairlift, the panoramic circular hike starts at over 1,800 meters above sea level. The trail offers two variants: For connoisseurs and families, a leisurely forest trail leads to the idyllic Kaiblingalm in around 40 minutes - even suitable for baby carriages. The children's adventure trail with puzzles, motor skills and play stations provides variety along the way. The long loop (approx. 1.45 hours) delights hikers with panoramic views, an info point with a viewing bench and exciting sheep stations. The trail leads up to an altitude of over 1,900 meters and deeper into the main Alpine ridge - always accompanied by an impressive view.
Our tip: When early summer is in full bloom (end of June to mid-July), the bright pink blooming alpine bush transforms the circular trail into a unique nature experience.
Culinary recommendation: There are refreshment stops at the Schutzhaus Kaiblingalm with homemade juices, at the TOMiziel with sun terrace, at the Krummholzhütte with roast lamb from the Ennstal lamb or at the d'Genussalm with a fantastic view of the Dachstein.
Refreshing hike
Moaralmsee
A natural jewel at Hauser Kaibling
From the mountain station of the 8-seater Kaiblinggrat chairlift, a panoramic high-altitude trail leads over gentle ridges and past the Hauser Kaibling summit at 2,015 meters, the highest point of the Schladming 4-mountain ski area. The trail continues over the Rossfeldsattel down to the idyllic Moaralmsee lake. Nestled between Bärfallspitze and Höchstein, the emerald-green mountain lake lies like a hidden treasure in the middle of the Tauern mountains. The path to the lake offers stunning panoramic views over the Enns Valley, tranquil mountain pine groves and alpine paths.
Once you reach the lake, peace and quiet reign - only the gentle babbling of the stream accompanies your rest on the shore. A destination for experienced hikers and nature lovers looking for something special. If you still have energy left, you can hike back to the mountain station via the Gumpental valley or the return route to the Rossfeldsattel.

Animal moments for families
Mini ponies, donkeys, sheep, goats, mini pigs and many other animal friends await curious visitors and gentle cuddles at Hauser Kaibling - a highlight for families and little animal lovers.
Particularly unique: around 700 sheep spend the summer here, looked after by an experienced shepherd. With a bit of luck, you will come across them right around the summit - a real nature experience that can only be found on the Hauser Kaibling.
Whether on a family walk, a hike or a leisurely e-bike tour - animal encounters can be perfectly integrated. Close to nature, child-friendly and unforgettable - that's what a family vacation in Styria can be like.
