Hauser Kaibling Circular Route
A fantastic panoramic circular tour, mostly on forest and gravel tracks, with a few short stretches on tarmac roads. The climb up to the Oberhausberg is rewarded with a magnificent view of the Schladminger-Tauern and the Dachstein Mountains as well as of the Ennstal valley.
Directions: This tour starts at the Gasthaus Stenitzer in Haus im Ennstal (parking is at the swimming lake) and leads over a moderately steep forest road to the Kaiblingalm and up to the mountain station of Hauser Kaibling. During the ascent you always have a beautiful view of the valley and the surrounding mountains. Just below the Kaiblingalm the path turns right and leads past a reservoir, which invites you to linger and enjoy the beautiful view of the Dachstein mountains. Again, a short climb up to the communication tower, the landmark of Hauser Kaibling and further on to the mountain station, after which, turn right and follow the track into Gumpental. The decent then runs down on a very pretty alpine path with a lovely view of the Enns Valley. Once yopu reach the idyllic valley floor, the tour continues over a small bridge and along a forest road, which merges into a beautiful forest path. At the end of the ascent the trail goes downhill on narrow alpine and forst trails, into the Seewigtal and from there further down into the village of Ruperting. Here you come to the Ennsradweg R7 which brings you back to the starting point.
TIP: At the Krummholzhütte and Berggasthof Scharfetter (Hauser Kaibling) in the Schiedalm (Gumpental) and in the Seewigtalstüberl (Bodensee), charging points for e-bikes are available.
Panorama Mountain Bike Route
Styria’s Panorama Route is a mountain-biking highlight. It starts at the WM Park Planai in Schladming. A short ascent takes you to the quaint village of Birnberg, which leads out across forest roads and paths.
After a short-but-challenging downhill, take the Philosophenweg to the Ramsau Ort ski-jump area. Next, a 5 km uphill takes you to the bottom of the Dachstein Glacier Gondola and truly wonderful panoramic views of the Dachstein mountains.
The route now follows the foot of the Dachstein towards the Bachlalm. Look out for the marmots! Head first to Ramsau and then along the forest road to Filzmoos. After a steep ascent, you head downhill into Mandling, and the track back to Schladming.
