International concert promoter Klaus Leutgeb, in collaboration with the Austrian vacation region of Schladming-Dachstein and the Schladming 4-Mountain Ski Area, is once again organizing a spectacular highlight to kick off the upcoming winter season: On Friday, December 11, Helene Fischer will kick off the season as part of the “Ski-Opening Schladming-Dachstein 2026.” The concert will take place at the Planai Stadium and marks the official start of the season for the Schladming 4-Mountain Ski Area.

A Global Superstar to Kick Off the Season
Following the acclaimed Backstreet Boys concerts in the winter of 2025, the Leutgeb Entertainment Group, the Schladming-Dachstein tourism region, and the 4-Mountain Ski Area (Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen, Reiteralm) are bringing Helene Fischer - one of Europe’s biggest live acts - to Austria. Following her successful 360° stadium tour in 2026, during which she thrilled over 750,000 fans across the German-speaking world, she will perform at the ski season opener in a special, intimate setting: together with her band, up close with the audience.

Set against the panoramic backdrop of the Dachstein, the Planai Stadium once again transforms into one of Europe’s most impressive concert venues. With this event, the Ski Opening continues its string of successes, having previously brought Robbie Williams, Bryan Adams, Sting, Simply Red, and the Backstreet Boys to Schladming-Dachstein.

The Schladming-Dachstein Tourism Association is offering packages for the 2026 Ski Opening with Helene Fischer. The packages are available from 3rd August.

The ski resorts in Schladming-Dachstein will open as soon as snow conditions permit—in some cases even before the Ski Opening on December 11, 2026. The Ski Opening marks the official start of the season, but skiing may begin earlier.
Helene Fischer's concert for the 2026 Ski Opening in Schladming will take place at the Planai finish station. You can access the concert venue without a ski pass or ski gear. The concert is an open-air event.

A Look Back: Ski Opening 2025
Pure nostalgia with the Backstreet Boys
Three sold-out shows, a lineup of global superstars, and around 50,000 visitors from all over the world—the 2025 Ski Opening made another big splash with the Backstreet Boys :
- On Friday (Dec. 5), the Backstreet Boys kicked off the three-day concert weekend at Planai Stadium with super hits like “I Want It That Way” and “Everybody.”
- On Saturday (Dec. 6), the band once again transformed the stage into a massive ’90s party full of nostalgia and energy.
- The third show on Sunday (Dec. 7) provided a spectacular finale, with classics like “Larger Than Life” and “Back to Your Heart” once again giving the audience goosebumps.
In total, around 50,000 fans flocked to the region over the three concert evenings—81% of the audience were women, with an average age of 37. Around 200 media representatives from around the world covered the event, which once again generated enormous media attention and economic value throughout Styria. A perfect, atmospheric kickoff to the winter season.
A Look Back: Ski Opening 2024
The Grand Festival
Three days, three global stars, and over 26,500 visitors from 30 countries—the 2024 Ski Opening was a resounding success:
- Bryan Adamskicked off the three-day festival on Friday in front of 10,000 enthusiastic fans with classics like“Summer of ’69”and“Everything I Do (I Do It for You).”
- On Saturday,Stingtookthestage and captivated 9,500 guests with hits like“Every Breath You Take”and“Roxanne.”
- Simply Redprovided an emotional finale on Sunday: 7,000 visitors enjoyed a rousing show featuring unforgettable songs like“If You Don’t Know Me By Now.”
With over 26,500 guests from 30 countries and an extended length of stay, the event provided a significant boost to the region. Perfect slope conditions and fresh snow rounded out the weekend—an unforgettable start to the winter season.

From Vienna, trains depart every 2 hours and take just under 4 hours to reach Schladming, with a transfer in Leoben. Direct EC/IC trains depart from Graz or Salzburg to Schladming every 2 hours.
