The Uphill Flow Trail is closed during the winter season of Planai.

A detour is possible via the Planaistraße road - up and down.

Tour description

Through the Talbach Gorge, the route leads comfortably into the Untertal valley and continues on partly asphalt mountain roads up to the Planai middle station. Here, the highlight of the tour begins with the Uphill Flow Trail. This easy-to-ride trail climbs at a moderate gradient through mountain forests and a high moor.

The descent is either via the blue trails through the bike park or entirely via the Planaistraße back to Schladming.

Tickets and prices for bike transport and the Bikepark Schladming

Holders of the Schladming-Dachstein Card have one free ascent and descent per day included.
An extra fee applies for transporting mountain bikes with the Schladming-Dachstein Card.

Tip: Shorten the tour by taking the gondola up to the middle station.

From Salzburg:

Follow the A10 to Altenmarkt. There join the B320 and continue in the direction of Liezen. At the Schladming exit, turn right at the Jet petrol station and follow Coburgstraße to the Planai car park on the left.

From Graz:
Follow the A9 to Liezen. There join the B320 and continue in the direction of Schladming. At the Schladming exit, turn left at the Jet petrol station and follow Coburgstraße to the Planai car park on the left.

There is plenty of parking available at the Planet Planai car park.

Take the train from Radstadt or St. Michael to Schladming. From there 3 min by bike to the starting point.

Or directly to the "Planet Planai" stop, where there are rental options on site.

Always wear a helmet and appropriate clothing.
Ride only on paved and signposted paths.
Watch out for traffic at crossroads and road junctions!
Be considerate and give way.
Avoid blocking the rear wheel and thus help to maintain the paths.
Control your speed downhill!
Protect the environment and don't leave rubbish, etc. in the mountains!

The right bike: mountain bike or gravel bike with studded tyres, racing bikes are not recommended.

Breakdowns can happen - but rarely at the doorstep of one of the numerous service points: a basic kit of tools and accessories therefore never hurts! Spare inner tube and/or repair kit, universal spanner, air pump, brake and shift cable, as well as a screwdriver can never hurt.

Shorten the tour by taking the gondola up to the middle station.
Plan breaks: Along the route, many huts and inns invite you to stop for a relaxing break and enjoy regional specialties.
E-mountain bike: With electric support, the tour is also suitable for less experienced bikers. There are several e-bike charging stations along the route. Their locations can be seen on the map and in the elevation profile, making it easy to plan your tour and possible charging stops.
