Tour description
Here we contest a charming tour to attractive lakes in the limestone mountains and lonely alpine pastures. The Ahornsee is an insider tip among hikers. The quiet lake is romantically situated in a narrow valley surrounded by high cliffs. Although no summit is reached on this tour, the hike still attracts with its scenic charms. The ascent from the Kneipp facility in Weißenbach is relatively long. That puts many people off, wrongly so. The tour is pleasantly quiet and worthwhile in any case.

Map, elevation profile & further information
From the car park at the Sonnberg crossroads, we take the forest path in the direction of the Kneipp facility. First it is flat, following the small Gradenbach, to the Jagdhütte (899 m) to the somewhat hidden Gradenbach waterfall. Behind the hut, path no. 668 leads up over a wooded steep step. The sloping path is partially secured with wire ropes. After the steep section, the path leads into a romantic high valley. A small stream has to be crossed several times. After approx. 2.5 hours you will reach the Ahornsee. There is a small hut on the shore, in front of which you can sit down and relax.
