15th Styrian Alpine Lamb Festival Returns to Hauser Kaibling
After a three-year break, the Styrian Alpine Lamb Festival will celebrate its comeback at Hauser Kaibling on Sunday, 26 July 2026. Around the upper station of the 8-seater gondola lift, visitors can look forward to a summer’s day filled with regional cuisine, living traditions and mountain experiences for the whole family.
Highlights of the traditional Alpine Lamb Festival include the arrival of the shepherds with their flock and sheepdog, as well as a live sheep-shearing demonstration followed by a sheep’s wool guessing game. Musical entertainment will be provided by d’Hoabuachan. The programme also features regional lamb specialities, local exhibitors offering sheep products and handicrafts, and a display of a snow groomer, snow cannon and Ski-Doo.
Families will also find plenty to enjoy during their visit to the event. Children can look forward to the petting zoo, arts and crafts and face-painting stations, as well as the attractions at “Wolli’s Bergwelt”. The new summer attractions—including a ball maze, ball runs, the SCHAFspielTurm play tower and the SCHAFsprungTurm jumping tower—provide even more variety.
“The Alpine Lamb Festival combines regional cuisine, living traditions and unforgettable mountain experiences for the whole family. Together with the organisers, we look forward to welcoming numerous guests to Hauser Kaibling and showcasing the diversity of our region,” says Klaus Hofstätter, Managing Director of Hauser Kaibling.
The 15th Styrian Alpine Lamb Festival is organised by the Schaferlebnis am Hauser Kaibling association. Admission to the festival is free.
Discounted cable-car tickets are available for the ascent (€10 for adults and €5 for children); travel is free with the Schladming-Dachstein Sommercard. In principle, the event will take place in all weather conditions. It will only be cancelled if weather conditions prevent the cable car from operating.
