Hikes on Hauser Kaibling
Walks all start near the Hauser Kaibling tower, which you can get to from Haus village onthe Tauern gondola. Or, take the 8-seater gondola and the Quattralpina chairlift to get up there.
Hauser Kaibling Top (2,015m) Loop
A half-hour uphill walk takes you to Hauser Kaibling’s peak, the highest point of Schladming’s four mountains. Sign the summit book and take in the gorgeous views across the Ennstal Valley – and don’t forget to take a snapshot! Continue your walk across the Rossfeldsattel to the Kaiblingalm nature jewel. Stop for a rest at the Kaiblingalm hut, where parents can enjoy a welcome cup of coffee while kids can play in the playground. Before you leave, ask for a Children’s Adventure Trail riddle card then follow the five riddle stations along the Children’s Adventure Trail back to the top station. Find the missing word and collect your prize at the base station cash desks.
High Alpine Trail to Moaralmsee Lake
Uphill across Hauser Kaibling’s 2,015m peak and on to the Rossfeldsattel. Follow trail no. 45 towards Moaralmsee Lake. The hike has some varied up- and downhills, as well as a narrow rocky passage on your way to the turquoise Moaralmsee Lake, framed by incredibly beautiful alpine scenery.
There are two routes back:
Option I: Walk back to Rossfeldsattel along the same path along the foot of Bärfallspitze. Continue to the Kaiblingalm nature jewel for a break at any of the rustic Kaiblingalm huts. Make your way back to the top station along the Children’s Adventure Path.
Option II: From Moaralmsee Lake, walk along trail no. 781, a beautiful alm path. Down in the Gumpental Valley, three cosy huts await you. There, you can enjoy a hearty alm platter before the Hiking taxi takes you back to the base station. Please book your taxi in advance: +43 664 200 44 44.
Mountain Hike up to Bärfallspitze
Take the Schafsinn Loop to the Rossfeldsattel. From there, follow the signs on trail no. 45 to the Bärfallspitze. It takes about 45 minutes to get to the top of the Bärfallspitze, where breath-taking views across the valley greet you. Walk down trail no. 780 to the Kaiblingalm for a bite at the cosy Kaiblingalm hut. Take the Children’s Adventure Trail back to the top station.
Alpine Tour to Höchstein
Start the tour passing by the Kaiblingalm or the top of Hauser Kaibling top at 2,015 metres. Hike along trail no. 780 to the Seeschartl, with a stunning view of Moaralmsee Lake. Keep hiking along the alpine path along huge rocky towers up to the Kaiblingloch Scharte notch. From here, make your way up across the scree to the next notch. Now hike up partly secure west ridge over rocky steps to summit at 2,542 metres. You’ll be rewarded with gorgeous views of the surrounding Schladming Tauern mountains and across the Ennstal Valley. The way back to the Hauser Kaibling top station is the same.
The Ernest-Reitzner Trail is the hikeable track between Hauser Kaibling base station and top tower. Whether you walk both ways or choose to just do the downhill, it is a great trail across forest and meadows, sometimes along wider tracks.

Reach the mountain top by gondola or by car
Not every mountain needs to be hiked. Some you can conquer by gondola or by car, and a few of them have just a short walk from the top of the gondola or the car park to reach the summit. If you don’t have the time or inclination for a long hike, this is the perfect solution.
