Piste grooming
Piste grooming on Hauser Kaibling uses 10 Piste Bullys from the Kässbohrer company.
Three of them are so-called winch vehicles with around 450 horsepower which are mainly used on the steep slopes around Hauser Kaibling. The slope groomer is attached to the existing anchoring points and grooms the ski runs while suspended by a cable.
At your service around the clock!
Every day our fleet of piste maintenance vehicles is in use until far into the night (about 2 am) in order to ensure you can enjoy perfectly groomed pistes the following day. The standard of piste grooming on Hauser Kaibling is considered to be one of the best in the Austrian Alps.
For some years now piste grooming on Hauser Kaibling has been carried out using so-called winch snow groomers. The engine on these modern snow groomers hangs from a steel cable which can reach up to 1,000 m in length. Optimum grooming of the steep slopes on Hauser Kaibling is only possible using this enhanced technique.
You can come along and marvel at some of our fleet of piste maintenance vehicles at the weekly ski show which is held around 8 pm every Monday in the Hauser Kaibling finish stadium.

Piste maintenance operations are focused on the following tasks:
- repairs to damaged ski runs caused by local weather conditions and skiers (e.g. removal of bumps and moguls; shifting of snow that has settled at the foot of the slope, rotivation of layers of ice, etc.)
- even spreading of snow on the ski run
- regeneration of piste surface for enhanced ease of skiing and to improve the visible appearance of the surface.
The principal advantages of using winch maintenance vehicles are:
- optimum grooming of even steep slopes;
- snow which is constantly moved downhill by skiers and snowboarders can be shifted back uphill far more effectively with the support of cable winches;
- and subsequent milling by the piste groomer can produce very good ski run cover as a result of optimum synchronisation of the forward movements between the snow groomer chain and the cable winch trail.
