Thanks to the unique Schladming interlinked 4 mountains (Hauser Kaibling-Planai-Hochwurzen-Reiteralm), Schladming is a popular and attractive holiday destination in winter, surrounded by a great ski area.

Host of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2013

4th to 17th of February 2013. Schladming made it to be the host of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2013. The then highly anticipated decision by the FIS was made in May 2008 in Cape Town/South Africa. At its third bid, Schlaming managed to come out on top already in the first ballot. With this decision, Austria was elected to hold this major event for the ninth time, and for the Schladming Dachstein region it was the second time after 1982, when Schladming and Haus hosted the World Championships together.

The Nightrace 2015 in Schladming

The men's night slalom (The Nightrace) in the Schladming ski resort is the highlight of the World Cup season and it is seen as the year's largest ski event. Up to 50.000 ski fans will turn the Schladming Planai stadium into a "boiling pot" on 27th of January 2015.

Advent atmosphere in Schladming

Between the first snowflakes and Christmas, the atmosphere in our valleys is transforming - the scent of ginger bread, baked apples, hot wine, and punch is in the air. Many villages organise for lovely little advent markets, with music and nativity plays, and arts and craft by local artists.
