Ski amadé: Austria’s greatest ski fun: experience 760 kilometres of ski runs with all 5 senses

Five regions build Austria’s largest ski association Ski amadé: Salzburger Sportwelt, Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, Hochkönig and Großarltal. This winter, all five of them attract with a particular culinary offer at the mountain huts: selected regional dishes with local ingredients and Austrian wines. Furthermore, there are new “SENSational 5-senses attractions. And, of course also in 2014/15, there are again over 760 kilometres of ski runs, 270 ski lifts, and 260 ski huts and mountain restaurants waiting for skiers and snowboarders.

New: Ski amadé pleasure-trilogy – regional delicacies, Austrian wines, gorgeous ski slopes

Great ski runs along with good food and drinks keep body and soul together. That is why Ski amadé sets high value on its culinary offer, promoting the initiative ‘ski and wine pleasure’. From the season 2014/15, in addition to the usual Austrian quality wines, now regional specialties from local produce are offered as well. These dishes are listed on the menus and have a distinct designation of origin. For not only the fabricator or refiner shall be from the region, but the product itself. The ski huts offer at least two different regional dishes with local products every day, one of them as main dish. Moreover, there is an extra wine-recommendation for the ‘ski-pleasure’ dishes.

From now on, skiers can order for example Radstadt grey cheese ravioli with tomato-white wine cabbage, followed by apple rings with custard made from the apples grown by the farmers in the valley, or a cheese platter with cheese from the local dairy, and home baked bread. For the local specialty “Blattl Krapfn” (a kind of doughnut), local flour is used, and they are served with pine ice cream and blueberry sauce – made of ingredients from our local forests. Also the meat for the roast beef with onions comes from our local farmer, and it is best accompanied by a glass of good Austrian white wine “Grüner Veltliner” or red wine “Blauer Zweigelt”. This way, our guest benefit from the freshness and even the nativeness of the excellent quality of our local products stemming directly from regional farms.

By now, already 20 ski huts and mountain restaurants in Ski amadé joined the ‘ski and wine pleasure’ initiative, labelled with a certificate at their entrance. The highlight for skiing wine enthusiasts is the ‘Ski and Wine Pleasure Week’ in Ski amadé taking place from 14th to 21st of March 2015. There will be events at the 20 ski huts, and further happenings related to the topic ‘Austrian wine culture’ and ‘regional specialties’ at 16 selected regional hotels. Additionally to the wine tastings, there will be tastings of local produce such as ham, cheese, jam, and much more. The hotels will be offering special set menus.
