Winter in Schladming
Schladming is a well-known and highly attractive winter holiday resort in an extremely diverse skiing region thanks to the unique Schladminger 4-mountain interconnected ski region (Hauser Kaibling-Planai-Hochwurzen-Reiteralm).

The men’s night time slalom (known as the “night race”) in Schladming’s ski stadium marks the climax of the World Cup winter. Up to 50,000 ski fans are expected to bring absolute pandemonium to the Planai stadium again on 26 January 2010. But the real party begins beforehand in Haus/Ennstal on Hauser Kaibling, where the World Cup’s female competitors will be battling it out for honours in the downhill and Super G disciplines on 9-10 January 2010.

Venue of the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships in 2013
All eyes will again be on Schladming again on 26 January 2010! Schladming managed to win the bid to become the venue for the FIS Alpine Ski World Championship in 2013. FIS made the relevant nerve-jangling decision back in Cape Town / SA in May 2008. Bidding for the third time, Schladming was already selected in the first round of voting. This marks the ninth time that alpine World Championship medals are up for grabs in Austria and the second time that Schladming-Dachstein will be hosting the World Championships after being awarded the honour for the first time in 1982.The men’s night time slalom (known as the “night race”) in Schladming’s ski stadium marks the climax of the World Cup winter.
