McDonald's Haus im Ennstal
A new restaurant adds to the “youthful” image of the Hauser Kaibling ski area: a “Next Generation” McDonald’s Family Restaurant.
One of the top priority goals set out by Arthur Moser when he became managing director of Hauser Kaibling Cableways was to make the valley terminal area around the 8-seater gondola lift even more attractive by working with an extraordinarily powerful partner who would also be able to ensure high customer frequency by virtue of its own brand popularity. So, instead of selecting just any company, the MD opted for McDonald’s, the global corporation which operates 162 restaurants in Austria alone and which registered a record turnover of €406m last year with 7,250 employees, 250 of whom were trainees.
Moser’s first point of contact in May 2008 was franchisee Belinda Leiter who has also successfully managed McDonald’s in the district capital of Liezen. After an initial, highly successful round of talks, the project, which Moser believes will have numerous benefits for Hauser Kaibling, was rapidly implemented – and in record time: “The name McDonald’s alone vouches for quality and conveys the kind of innovative lifestyle image which practically goes hand in hand with future plans for Hauser Kaibling.”

McDonald’s to be open all year round
The idea is also to make optimum use of joint synergies in future in the form of marketing cooperation agreements. In addition, the new restaurant opens up the possibility of operating the 8-seater cable car on Hauser Kaibling in the foreseeable future, Moser added.
Moreover, the new restaurant entailed the complete redesign of the entire eastern car park, which got a new road, pavement and lighting. Additional parking spaces was created on a paved area covering 3,000 square metres. There are also plans to construct a route which will take skiers straight to the restaurant.
Moser is delighted by the outstanding contributions made to the implementation of the McDonald’s Haus im Ennstal Project by Mayor Johann Resch, the Haus im Ennstal local authority and franchisee Belinda Leiter, who will also be managing the new restaurant. Further projects for this year’s winter season on Hauser Kaibling are already halfway through the planning stage and are due to be implemented shortly. One such project which should also be described as an absolute highlight is soon to be unveiled.
Superior customer service and top quality products are also written large at McDonald’s restaurants: for example, their beef, French Fries and ice cream have been awarded the Austria’s AMA seal of approval.
The AMA seal of approval ensures independent inspections and stands for conventionally produced food from traceable origins and which meets above-average quality criteria.
McDonald’s aim is to purchase all products locally, providing they meet the company’s quality standards and are available in sufficient quantities. This is 100% true of the beef used in McDonald’s burgers, its milk and the potatoes for its French Fries.
